1. Enjoying Fizzy Drinks?
The first thing to avoid at all costs is carbonated or fizzy drinks, as they contain strong colors and compounds like acids and tannins that can cause discoloration. As your teeth are dehydrated and porous after the treatment, they need extra care, especially in the first few days. You should also avoid tea, coffee, wine, curry powder, and berries to maintain your results.
 2. Still Using That Abrasive Whitening Toothpaste?
Avoid abrasive toothpaste at all costs. Your teeth are vulnerable until the protective layer regenerates. So stick to the remineralising toothpaste and gels your dentist recommends. A little research can make a big difference. Be mindful of what you rub against your teeth. It’s just a click away!
3. Smoking cigarettes? You need to reconsider.
If you smoke immediately after teeth whitening, you're actively harming your teeth. Avoid anything containing nicotine and tar, as these can settle on the vulnerable enamel, oxidise and cause lasting damage. Surely, you can resist for a day or two to protect your brighter smile.
4. Dehydrated? Let water do the magic :

Crystal-clear water is your best friend after treatment. It helps wash away particles and food debris that could stain your teeth, whilst also keeping the outer layer of your teeth moist and hydrated. However, you should avoid cold water, as it may cause sensitivity.

5. Expecting the Impossible:
Know that teeth whitening is not a magic fix. Like any other treatment, it will only last as long as you care for it. The more effort you put into maintaining and building good oral hygiene as well as healthy dietary habits, the longer and brighter your results will last. The effort you put into aftercare will determine the longevity and sustainability of your treatment.
